Fortification is an upgrade in Age of Empires for Medium Walls with more hit points. It can be upgraded at Granary in the Iron Age. This is also the procedure of what happens when you put units in buildings in Age of Empires II (this is also known as garrisoning).

- Babylonian and Shang Fortifications have double hitpoints.
- Fortification is not available for Carthaginians, Macedonians, Minoans and Yamato.
